The third-party developers had news to share about upcoming Microsoft Flight Simulator add-ons, including an aircraft and scenery.

We start with PMDG, which has provided quite a significant set of product updates. Here is a summary.

An update is coming to the entire Boeing 737 lineup, including “fixes, tweaks and improvements”, including adjustments to “improve the stability of control-related functions such as pitch, yaw, roll and thrust”. It should arrive in a few days followed by another “to bring greater stability to the thrust channel when operating under A/T”.

The 737-900 is being readied for beta testing, with the “best guess” for release in mid-November.

The process of launching the 737 line in the official market will begin “soon”, but PMDG is taking it slowly to ensure that the product is mature.

As Asobo and Microsoft are still working on compatibility of C++/WASM projects on Xbox, PMDG is waiting for this process to be sorted out before releasing (in effect reposting) the DC-6 on the console. Once that’s done, it’ll work with Microsoft to make sure the 737s are also compatible.

Last but not least, a bit juicy regarding the 777.

“This project is in progress; in fact he made more progress than expected while I was on vacation. I suggested to the team that this was a good indication that maybe I should stay on vacation, but there was not a general feeling of agreement on this.

The cockpit model for this project is absolutely spectacular and since we used a “beloved” cockpit as the base for our build, it has more wear and maintenance abuse than you would expect. find in an aircraft in service. For those who haven’t seen me, point this out: we used a brand new 737 (not yet in service) for the 737 for MSFS, we used an average age 777 and we have a workhorse 747 that serves as the basis for this product. This will give you a good age range – and before anyone asks, no, we really don’t plan on letting you choose the age of the cockpit. It’s a HUGE amount of work to get the 3D and texture models to match, since the techniques we use build many imperfections down to the level of the model…but wait till you see it, it’s spectacular!”
