The Dubai Electricity and Water Authority launched its “DEWAVerse” platform on the Metaverse and became the first local government organization to launch its platform on the Metaverse to provide its services to customers, employees and society members.

It invests in Metaverse technology to implement and develop its current and future projects, which contributes to stakeholder happiness, business development, improved efficiency and production, and reduced costs. .

This was announced at Dewa’s Digital Transformation Steering Committee meeting, which McKinsey also attended and presented the Digital Quotient Assessment 2022 report, highlighting that Dewa has maintained its position as a global digital leader in utilities.

During the meeting, seven projects using Metaverse technology were reviewed. These include the Customer Service Center, the first of its kind locally, which allows customers to communicate with Customer Service Center agents to respond to their inquiries and conduct transactions in the virtual world.

Dewa Workplace allows users to move around Dewa buildings and hold meetings in the virtual world. Dewa Future Lab allows users to hold brainstorming sessions, discuss challenges and develop the best solutions using innovation tools in the virtual world.

The First Aid and Fire Safety course virtually presents first aid and fire safety gestures. MetaDrone collects information about solar panels, repairs them and generates reports using virtual reality. Dewa Onboarding allows new employees to virtually experience Dewa’s vision and mission.

Dewa was one of the first government entities in Dubai to complete the 100% intelligent transformation of all its departments in 2014. Dewa’s key milestones in its journey include the adoption of Google Glass in 2014, which constituted a new change in the quality of services provided. .

The application has been specially designed to meet Dewa’s needs to monitor the malfunctions of its stations. In 2016, Dewa adopted Microsoft’s HoloLens technology to improve operations and improve productivity. Dewa was the first government organization to adopt this technology in electricity and water utilities. Dewa also started using the Smart Helmet and Smart Goggles (DAQRI) in 2017, which work with virtual reality technology to help engineers at power plants.

Dewa held the 22nd Water, Energy, Technology and Environment (WETEX) and Dubai Solar (DSS) exhibition in 2020 via 3D virtual platform, for the first time in the Mena region. The exhibition allowed visitors and exhibitors to participate without having to travel. In addition, Dewa provided a virtual reality studio and self-service for its employees. The studio provides Dewa employees with simulated training on first aid, safety procedures and fire prevention, an overview of Dewa, its projects, its strategy and the services it provides to employees and customers.
